Opteon™ XL41 (R-454B) refrigerant offers a welcome replacement solution for R-410A in new equipment, with a much-enhanced environmental profile thanks to its low global warming potential (GWP). This non-ozone depleting (ODP), hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) based refrigerant boasts the lowest GWP of all commercially available R-410A replacements—a 78% reduction vs. R-410A. Opteon™ XL41 is a close performance match to R-410A, and in some cases superior in terms of efficiency. It requires only minimal changes to existing appliance designs.
The Right Balance of Safety and Performance
Classed as a mildly flammable (A2L) refrigerant, Opteon™ XL41 allows much higher charge sizes than R-290. Additional benefits of using Opteon™ XL41 include:
